Unpublished Skillport: Help! Here at the IT service desk we have had a two very common issues crop up due to java and/or popups running on skillport. Many users are contacting us regarding the “Please Wait” pop up that never loads. Here's the solution! First, if you are not an administrator and are using a departmental computer please contact your local IT department for assistance. If you are an administrator on your machine (meaning they can install and download programs) please follow the steps below: This can be resolved by opening a new window or tab and running a browser test. You need to type this address into the URL bar of their browser: http://browser.skillport.com/. You will be prompted to put in their email address. Then click submit. You should wait about 20 seconds while the browser test is completed. When the browser test is complete the user will see a screen that looks similar to the one below. The user is looking for anything that is Not Fully Qualified. JAVA ISSUE: Typically you will see that the java or popups are not fully qualified. On the screen above, if you see the java environment not fully qualified you will need to download java. Please download java here http://www.java.com/ for free. Please make sure after you download the file, you completely install it. Turn off the web browser you are using, and turn it back on and go back to skillport. POPUP ISSUE: You may also need popup blocker enabled. To enable popups it depends on the browser. *Please note when you are finished with the test go back and enable the popup blocker. Please follow the instructions for each browser below: Mozilla Firefox To access the pop-up blocker settings: • At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button and then select Options • Select the Content panel. • In the content panel: o Block pop-up windows: Uncheck this to disable the pop-up blocker altogether. Internet Explorer • Click Internet Explorer • On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. • Click the Privacy tab, and then select the Block pop-ups check box to turn on the Pop-up Blocker, or clear the Block pop-ups check box to turn off the Pop-up Blocker. • Click Apply, and then click OK. Chrome You can allow all pop-ups by disabling the pop-up blocker. Follow these steps: • Click the Chrome menu on the browser toolbar. • Select Settings. • Click Show advanced settings. • In the "Privacy" section, click the Content settings button Two other issues we see with Skillport are volunteer log in, and printing the completion certificate. Volunteers: Volunteers log on to our system in a different way. They go here to log on to skillport: http://ohr.psu.edu/learning/online/volunteers/ They are to use a different PSU userID and password not associated with our systems. If they do not remember their log in information please have them call the Center For Workplace Learning & Performance (814)865-8216 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Completed - But do not see completion certificate Another common problem we have is when a user has completed the post test, and received the required score, they do not know where to go from there, or they do not see the ribbon required to press on.
