Standard Greeting or Alternate Greeting - Which is Which?
A personal greetings is what your callers hear when you are not available to take calls. Your personal greeting should be brief but informative and let callers know when you will be available to return their calls or respond to their messages.

There are two types of greetings you can record, depending on your situation. One enables callers to leave a message and the other doesn't.

Standard Greeting: This greeting generally plays during your work hours and plays unless it is overriden by another greeting. With this greeting, when callers can not reach you, they may leave a message in your voice mailbox.

Alternate Greeting: This greeting plays to indicate special circumstances, such as when you are on vacation or away for an extended period of time. When enabled, it overrides all other greetings until it is disabled. When this greeting is in effect, the caller can hear it but cannot leave a message - saving you from a deluge of messages upon your return.

You can record your Standard and Alternate greetings and enable or disable only your Alternate greeting by phone.

To Record or change a Greeting:
  • Call the Voice Mail system: 865-4090 (or 5-4090 from a University Park phone)
  • Press 4 > 1 > 1
  • After listening to your current greeting, Press 1 to re-record it OR Press 3 to record a different greeting, choose the greeting, then re-record it.
  • Exit your mailbox by hanging up.

  • Call the Voice Mail system: 865-4090 (or 5-4090 from a University Park phone)
  • Press 4 > 1 > 1

This will reactivate your Standard greeting and restore message-taking capabilities to your mailbox.
