What's the difference between the File Share pod and the Share pod?
There are two pods in Breeze for sharing files.
The “File Sharing” pod allows you to upload files to a meeting and have participants download a copy of the file to their computer. All file types can be uploaded to this pod. The actual file is never displayed in the meeting, only a link to download it.
The “Sharing “ pod will actually display the file that is uploaded, but is very limited in the types of files it will accommodate. Only .swf, .flv, .ppt, .jpg, and .gif (although I have never gotten a .gif file to work from my Mac) can be uploaded and displayed. Breeze Presenter .zip files can also be uploaded and displayed, but no other .zip type files will work.
If you want to display a file type other than those listed above, you must first use FlashPaper to convert the file to Flash (.swf). If you want to collaboratively discuss and mark up a file that has been uploaded to the Share pod, you will need to use a whiteboard overlay. The actual document will not be altered, but Presenters and Hosts in the meeting will be able to use the whiteboard tools to make marks on the document that everyone can see.
We have a tutorial on using the Share pod at our site (but not one on using the File Sharing pod). This tutorial also contains information about FlashPaper: http://meeting.psu.edu/SharePod.html
