Where can I get instructions for setting up Symantec's Live Update?

For the PC:

  1. Double-click on the AntiVirus icon in the system tray.

    Note: It looks like a little yellow shield in the lower right-hand corner of the screen.

  2. In the Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition window, open the File menu and click on Schedule Updates…

  3. In the Schedule Virus Definition Updates window, make sure that the Enable scheduled automatic updates box is checked.

  4. Next press the Schedule button.

  5. Select Daily updates from the Frequency selection, then select a time from the drop-down box in the When section.

    Note: The update time should be set for a period when your computer will be on, but when you are unlikely to use it. Lunch time is a good choice for most people.

  6. Press the OK button on the Virus Definition Update Schedule and Schedule Virus Definition Updates windows.

  7. Now press the Exit button on the Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition window.

For the Mac:

  1. Open the Applications folder.

  2. Next, double-click on the Norton AntiVirus icon.

  3. Click on the Schedule button in the upper left of the Norton AntiVirus window.

    Note: If the button does not appear, click on the Show Tools button in the lower left of the window

  4. Click on the Norton Scheduler button in the LiveUpdate window.

  5. Click on the New… button in the Norton Scheduler window.

  6. When you are prompted to choose a task to schedule, select Product Update.

  7. Enter Daily Definitions Update as the name for the task.

    • Enter Daily Definitions Update as the name for the task.
    • Choose Virus Definitions as the product to update.
    • Set the frequency to Daily.
    • Set the time for the update

  8. Once you have made the changes, press the Save button and close all the other windows.
