How to fix permission denied error when using Blogs at Penn State

Problem

When using the Blogs at Penn State (http://blogs.psu.edu), a permission denied error is encountered while publishing.

Solution

Either your "blogs" folder in your personal web space is missing, or it does not have the proper permissions.

  1. Visit https://www.work.psu.edu/apps/passutil/recreate_pass.cgi to recreate your "blogs" folder.
  2. Log in to https://www.work.psu.edu and follow the "Reset PASS Permissions to default (ACL Reset)" link in the left menu.
  3. From the drop down menu, choose "My Personal Web Space" and click the "Reset Permissions" button.
  4. On the next page, click checkbox next to "Reset permissions on all files and subfolders" and click the "Confirm Reset" button.
  5. Wait for the "Permissions have been Reset" message. It may take a few minutes.
  6. You should now be able to publish your blog.
