Configure Outlook Express 6 for authsmtp
Set up Outlook Express 6 to use authenticated smtp to send mail.
If you check mail from off-campus and do not check email from an ITS POP3 account (on email.psu.edu or mail.psu.edu), or if you're receive an error message that says "Relay denied check mail first" even if you are checking mail, you may be able to successfully send email using the authenticated smtp server. The authenticated server requires you to use your access account userid and password when sending mail.
NOTE: this will not work if your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is blocking port 25. In that case, you need to either use their smtp server or downoad and run the VPN when you want to send mail.
