Creating an X-PSU-Spam-Flag Filter in Outlook 2007

Instructions for configuring the Penn State X-PSU-Spam-Flag filter in Outlook 2007.

 

  1. Start Outlook 2007.
  2. On the Outlook Tools menu, click Rules  and Alerts.
  3. Click New Rule to bring up the Rules Wizard.
  4. Select Check Messages when they arrive under Start from a blank rule.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Place a check mark in the with specific words in the message header box.
  7. In the Step1: Select Condition(s) area, check mark the box next to with specific words in the message header.
  8. In the Step 2: Edit the rule description area, click the underlined word specific words.
  9. Type in X-PSU-Spam-Flag: YES.
  10. Click Add
  11. Now click OK.
  12. Click Next.
  13. In the Step1: Select action(s) area, check mark the box next to move it to the specified folder.
  14. In the Step2: Edit the rule description area, click the underlined word specified.
  15. Select the Junk folder if there is already one.

    Note: If there is no Junk filter, please do the following:
    • Select Personal Folders
    • Click New.
    • Under Name type Junk Email
    • Click OK
    • Next, click the Junk Email folder you just created
    • Click OK.
  16. Click Next
  17. Click Next.
  18. In Specify a name for this rule, type PSU Spam flag.
  19. Click Finish.
  20. Click OK to exit the Tools option.
