Creating an X-PSU-Spam-Flag Filter in Thunderbird on Mac OS X

Instructions on setting up the X-PSU-Spam-Flag filter in Mozilla’s Thunderbird version 2.x
  1. Open Thunderbird.
  2. Confirm you have a Junk folder. If you do not you will need to follow the steps below:
    1. Click on Thunderbird.
    2. Choose Preferences.
    3. Click on the Privacy tab.
    4. Click on the Junk tab.
    5. Check When I mark messages as Junk:
    6. Select the radio button for Move them to the account’s ”Junk” folder.
    7. Close the dialog box.
  3. From the Tools menu, select Message Filters.
  4. Click New.
  5. In the Filter Name text box of the new window that opens up, specify a name for the filter e.g. PSUSpamFlag.
  6. Select the Match any of the following radio button.
  7. From the first pull-down menu (from the left), select Customize.
  8. For the name of a new message header, type: X-PSU-Spam-Flag.
  9. Select Add.
  10. Select OK.
  11. From the first pull-down menu, now select X-PSU-Spam-Flag.
  12. From the second pull-down menu, select contains.
  13. Type YES in the text box.
  14. Under Perform these actions, select Move message to.
  15. From the second pull down menu, choose the Junk on Local Folders from the list of local folders.
  16. Close the Message Filters window.
  17. Click on Run Now to run this filter on the Inbox.
  18. Close the window by clicking on the red circle in the upper right hand corner of the window.
