Creating an X-PSU-Spam-Flag Filter in Thunderbird on Mac OS X
Instructions on setting up the X-PSU-Spam-Flag filter in Mozilla’s Thunderbird version 2.x
- Open Thunderbird.
- Confirm you have a Junk folder. If you do not you will need to follow the steps below:
- Click on Thunderbird.
- Choose Preferences.
- Click on the Privacy tab.
- Click on the Junk tab.
- Check When I mark messages as Junk:
- Select the radio button for Move them to the account’s ”Junk” folder.
- Close the dialog box.
- From the Tools menu, select Message Filters.
- Click New.
- In the Filter Name text box of the new window that opens up, specify a name for the filter e.g. PSUSpamFlag.
- Select the Match any of the following radio button.
- From the first pull-down menu (from the left), select Customize.
- For the name of a new message header, type: X-PSU-Spam-Flag.
- Select Add.
- Select OK.
- From the first pull-down menu, now select X-PSU-Spam-Flag.
- From the second pull-down menu, select contains.
- Type YES in the text box.
- Under Perform these actions, select Move message to.
- From the second pull down menu, choose the Junk on Local Folders from the list of local folders.
- Close the Message Filters window.
- Click on Run Now to run this filter on the Inbox.
- Close the window by clicking on the red circle in the upper right hand corner of the window.
