Mac Mail AUTHSMTP Configuration

Mac OS X Mail

The Mac OS X mail application requires the following changes to use Authenticated SMTP:

1. While in the mail application, under the Mail menu, select Preferences.

2. Double-click on the email account profile that is associated with your Penn State email account.

3. Next to Outgoing Mail Server, select Add Server... in the drop-down list.

4. In the window that appears, in the field next to Outgoing Mail Server type: authsmtp.psu.edu

5. Make sure that Server port is set to 587.

6. Check the box next to Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL).

7. Click OK on the SMTP Server Options window.

8. Click OK on the email account window.
9. Close the Accounts window.
