Is there a version of the VPN software that I can install and use on my Windows Mobile 5.0 device?

Document Actions
The Bluefire Mobile Security VPN supports the following Windows Mobile 5.0 devices:
  • MOTO Q
  • Dell Axim X51
  • Sprint PPC – 6700
  • Verizon XV6700
  • Treo 700w
  • Cingular 8125
  • HP iPAQ hw6915
  • T-Mobile MDA

We were able to configure the Demo version of Bluefire Security's VPN to work with the PSU wireless network.  The full version of the program also works with our wireless network.  The full version sells for $79, and you'll need to pay an additional $12 if you would like to have the option of Bluefire's email tech support.  You can learn all about this at http://www.bluefiresecurity.com/. However, we have only tried this on a Dell x51v.  Also, please note that PSU cannot support their software.  If anything changes within their network, or within updated versions of their client, we cannot guarantee you that the instructions below will continue to work.

Until you decide to purchase the full version you can use the Demo.  It will work for you for 30 days.  Then, you can decide if you wish to purchase the full version.

1.  After you download the program, make sure your Handheld is synced with your Windows computer.  Unzip the file and execute the program inside.  This will install the program to your Handheld device.

2.  Disconnect your Handheld and then make sure your wireless on your device is Active and picking up the "pennstate" signal.  Click on Start -> Bluefire VPN.  Or, you can open up your Programs menu, as the program will be installed there.

3. Use the Menu Option in the lower right hand corner to select CONNECTION -> ADD. You may name the New Connection anything you like, such as PSU WIRELESS. The IP Address for the University Park campus connection should be 172.28.41.68. Please note that this should be changed if you're at a different campus. You can contact us and we can assist you configuring the IP address for your particular campus.

4. The Group ID and Password are both “pennstate”, all lowercase, all one word, without the quotation marks. The Username should be YOUR PSU Access Account ID.

5. In the next window, do nothing. Leave the settings exactly how they are. Enable IKE PFS should be UNCHECKED. IKE Key Group should be DH2.

6. For the following window, please do the same. Leave Nortel Contivity UNCHECKED. Authentication should be Username and Password. Then select FINISH, and your connection should be configured correctly.

7. Make sure the connection you just created is highlighted and click the "Connect" button on the left side.  The program will give you a Server Message asking for your Username and Password.  Enter your PSU User ID and Password in the areas provided and select OK

You should now be connected. Hope this helps!
