IMAP settings for Thunderbird
Here are the instructions for configuring IMAP in Thunderbird.
Note: If you have a POP account configured in Thunderbird, you will need to create a new account using the following steps:
To finish setting up your IMAP settings, do the following:

- Open Thunderbird.
- Click on Tools.
- Click Account Settings…
- Select Add Account...
- In New Account Setup, select Email account.
- Click Continue.
- Enter your name in the Your Name text box.
- Click Continue.
- Enter your email address in the Email Address text box.
- Click Continue.
- Under Server Information, select IMAP.
- Click Continue.
- Enter mail.psu.edu in the Incoming Server text box.
- Click Continue.
- You should see your user id (i.e. xyz123) in the Incoming User Name text box.
- Click Continue.
- Enter a name for your account in the Account Name text box. (Default is your email address.)
- Click Continue.
- Review the settings that appear in the Congratulations! window.
- Click Done to finish and exit the Account Wizard.
To finish setting up your IMAP settings, do the following:
- Click Server Settings.
- Click on Tools.
- Click Account Settings…
- Type mail.psu.edu in the Server Name box.
- Type your Access Account user id into the User Name box.
- Under Security Settings, select the SSL radio button in the Security Settings box.
- Make sure the Port is 993.
- Under Server Settings, click the Advanced button.
- Type ~/mail into the IMAP Server Directory box.
- Uncheck the Server supports folders that contain sub-folders and messages box.
- Click the OK button to close the Advanced Account Settings box.
- Click the OK button to close the Account Settings box.
