To keep these problems from happening in the future do the following to exclude .mbx files from being quarantined:
29. Go to the Configure Menu in Norton
30. Click on File System Real Time Protection
31. Check the box that says "Exclude selected files and folders"
32. Click the Exclusions button

34. Type "mbx" (no quotes) in the first field
35. Click the Add button - it should appear in the list below
36. Click "OK" to close all windows
37. Exit Norton
Everything should be fine now, you can use Eudora as usual. From this point forward no Eudora mailboxes or *.mbx files will be quarantined. Your computer is safe because Eudora stores attachments in a separate folder called "attach". Once a virus is in this folder, its extension becomes *.exe or something other than *.mbx. At this point Norton will find it and quarantine the virus but not the actual email associated with it, which should go to the Junk folder.
