Mounting PASS Gateway - Network Not Found
We recommend that you check the following things:
- Are you connecting over a third party ISP? If so then you need to use the VPN Client. Information on VPN at http://aset.its.psu.edu/vpn. You will need to install it and authenticate into PSU.
- If you are having trouble in connecting to VPN, are you using the ISPtoPSU connection setting?
- If you have Windows XP Service Pack - 2, you need to allow VPN traffic. Instructions are available on the following page at http://ict.cas.psu.edu/training/howto/comm/vpn403-xpsp2.htm. Instructions on how to do this in Windows XP (prior to SP 2) are available at http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/protect/ports.mspx. Use the port numbers from the previous page.
- Turn off Zone Alarm or allow the ports required for VPN and mapping to work. You can set it to show the status of all services requested and say OK to the ones you want. Alternately, there is a way to denote Remote IP Addresses/Sites as trusted ones in ZoneAlarm. Please see the information at http://www.ualberta.ca/CNS/Security/firewall.html. You will need to replace the server names with the PSU ones, for example: samba.cac.psu.edu, vpn.aset.psu.edu etc.
- If you are using the firewall from Norton Systemworks, please review the information at http://its.ucsf.edu/information/network/vpn/config/nsw/index.jsp.
