X-PSU-Spam-Flag: Creating a Filter in Outlook 2010


  1. Under the Home tab, click Rules drop down list.
  2. Select Manage Rules & Alerts.
  3. Click New Rule to bring up the Rules Wizard.
  4. Select Apply rule on messages I receive.
  5. Click Next.
  6. In the Step1: Select Condition(s) area, check mark the box next to with specific words in the message header.
  7. In the Step 2: Edit the rule description area, click the underlined word specific words.
  8. Type in “X-PSU-Spam-Flag: YES”.
  9. Click Add.
  10. Click OK.
  11. Click Next.
  12. In the Step1: Select action(s) area, check mark the box next to move it to the specified folder.
  13. In the Step2: Edit the rule description area, click the underlined word specified.
  14. Select the Junk folder if there is already one.

Note: If there is no Junk filter, please do the following:

  • Select Personal Folders.
  • Click New.
  • Under Name type Junk Email.
  • Click OK.
  • Next, click the Junk Email folder you just created.
  • Click OK.

15.  Click Next.
16.  Click Next.
17.  In Specify a name for this rule, type PSU Spam flag.
18.  Click Finish.
19.  Click OK.
